Whitworth, 35, started 164 games in 11 seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. The three-time Pro Bowler — and a first-team All-Pro in 2015 — will protect the blind side of second-year quarterback Jared Goff and bolster an offensive line that struggled to create running lanes for Todd Gurley last season.
Pro Football Focus ranked Whitworth as its ninth-best available free agent in 2017. Whitworth isn’t a long-term solution, but he’ll play an integral role in the development of Goff and the implementation of head coach Sean McVay’s offense.
